1446753 Railway level crossings SEMPERIT AG 12 Sept 1973 [13 Sept 1972] 42858/73 Heading E1G In a railway level crossing wherein roadway slabs 1 are supported between and on each side of a pair of rails 15, each slab has a tongue bearing against the adjacent rail web through rubber or wooden bodies spaced along the tongue, each body being interlocked with a projection or recess on the lower face of the tongue to prevent relative movement longitudinally of the rail. In Fig. 1 each rubber L-shaped bearing body 6 has a pair of upstanding metal plates 7 vulcanised thereto to embrace a projection 4 between recesses 3 in the tongue. In modifications, Figs. 2 or 3 (not shown) an L-shaped bearing body seats in a slab recess (3) to prevent relative longitudinal movement and is additionally prevented from lateral movement (a) by a pin-and-socket (8-9) interlock or (b) by a tongue and groove (11-13) interlock. In the Fig. 2 modification the tongue is offset above the lower face of the slab. Fig. 4 shows a slab 1 having undisclosed bearing bodies and a cranked anchoring bracket 26 which embraces the side face of the slab and is bolted to the rail fastening 27.
