Abstract

1446707 Roller mills R W WILEMAN (ENGS) Ltd 14 Sept 1973 [15 June 1972] 27941/72 Heading B2A Comminuting apparatus comprises a pair of parallel resilient - surfaced contra - rotatable rollers 7,8 preferably having intercalating elastomeric discs or flanges 15. At least one roller 8 may be resiliently biassed or free to swing away from roll 7. The rollers may be driven at different speeds. As described, roller 7 is beltdriven by a motor 10 and gearbox 12. The gap between the rollers is determined by a stop not shown. The flanges or discs 15 may have shapes shown in Fig. 3. In operation hard material and small clay lumps pass through unaffected due to the resiliency of the discs 15, and aggregates can thus be fed to a normal washing/ scrubbing plane. In modifications, both rolls may be power driven, the speed of one or both rolls may be variable and the discs 15 may be of plastics e.g. polyurethane. The rolls could also comprise sets of low pressure pneumatic tyres. A feed hopper 6 is provided.
