Abstract

1446631 Regulating I C engine fuel injection ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 17 Aug 1973 [19 Aug 1972] 38938/73 Heading F1B Apparatus for setting the maximum fuel stop or the pivot point of a lever of a centrifugal speed governor for a fuel injection pump comprises a first movable member 13 which is subject to the pressure in the air inlet manifold to position a setting member 49 and a second movable member 35 which is subject to the manifold pressure, an air-pressure which rises in dependence on engine speed or exhaust gas-pressure and in response to increasing pressure causes the position of the setting member to be adjusted to provide increased maximum or actual fuel supply. The apparatus may be used with an exhaust gas turbo-supercharged diesel engine. The spring-biased diaphragm 35 is subjected on opposite sides 36 and 37 to the inlet manifold pressure through pipes 29b and 29a, the pipe 29a communicating with the chamber 43 through a throttle 41 which determines the rate of pressure rise in the chamber. The diaphragms (61, 62), Fig. 2 (not shown), may be connected coaxial to thrust transmitting rods (63, 64), the rods being in abutment. A non-return valve (89) may provide for pressure equalization between the chambers (82, 92) subject to unrestricted and throttled manifold pressure when the pressure falls. One of the rods (63) operates through a crank (67) to position a maximum fuel stop (73) of a fuel injection pump control rod (75). The first diaphragm (61), Fig. 3 (not shown), may be smaller than the second (101) and subject to the throttled manifold pressure. The throttled and unthrottled pressures may act on respective diaphragms (121, 122 and 131, 132) Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), acting with the first diaphragm to position the member 49.
