1446540 Workpiece clamping OWATONNA TOOL CO 12 May 1975 [11 July 1974] 19907/75 Heading B3B A swing clamp comprises a body 10, a pivot shaft 22 rotatably mounted within a bore 40 in the body and a clamp arm 20 pivotally mounted on the shaft 22 so that pivoting of the shaft 22 in the body 10 swings the arm 20 from an inoperative position to a position in which clamping end 31 overlies a workpiece 15 to be clamped, the body housing two operating pistons (60) (61) (Fig. 3, not shown) at least one of which is operable by fluid pressure and which act respectively against opposite ends of a rocker member 50 formed on the end of shaft 22 and shaped so that a curved surface is contiguous with the wall of the bore 40, to swing the arm 20, and a fluid pressure clamping piston 32 which is engageable with one end of the arm 20 when the arm is in the operative position. Fluid pressure can be supplied to the two swing pistons (60) (61) through respective sets of identical passageways in the body. At the end of the swinging motion fluid is sequentially supplied to cylinder 33 to extend the piston 32 to clamp the workpiece.
