Abstract

1445000 Travelling-cylinder machine; impression adjustment ADDRESSOGRAPH MULTIGRAPH CORP 20 Nov 1973 [20 Nov 1972] 53900/73 Heading B6C A travelling-cylinder printing machine comprises a base 10 having a bed 20 on which a printing plate, such as a credit card, is placed and a cylinder 52 slidably mounted in an arm which is pivotable toward and away from the bed, the cylinder having a surface 31 which engages the surface of the material to be printed when the arm is in printing position. A latch mechanism 14, pivoted at 64, has a camming surface 70 which engages a surface 72 of the arm and locks it as soon as the surface 31 contacts the material to be printed irrespective of the thickness of the material. In the embodiment shown the bed is of resilient material; in an alternative form the bed is pivotal about mutually perpendicular axes and engaged by three contact points on the arm so that it is parallel to the arm irrespective of the thickness of the material to be printed.
