1443548 Novel tetracyclic benzazocine derivatives SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 17 Dec 1973 58380/73 Heading C2C Novel compounds of the Formula I where R 1 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 and R 8 are each hydrogen or alkyl, R 2 is hydrogen, alkyl or phenyl and R 6 and R 7 are each alkyl and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein alkyl groups have 1 to 5 carbon atoms, may be prepared by cyclizing a compound of the Formula II or a salt thereof with a Lewis acid. Pharmaceutical compositions of one or more of the compounds I with the usual excipients show analgesic activity when administered orally or parenterally.
