Steering and balancing.-The main aerofoils b have pivoted to their rear edges both ailerons g, which are moved in opposite directions for lateral stability, and wings d which are moved together in the same direction to constitute a trailing edge for the aerofoil. The mechanism for operating the wings d is entirely independent of the mechanism for operating the ailerons g.
