Abstract

1442684 Controlling the spacing of garment hangers on a slide rail or on a conveyer UDS TAILORING Ltd 22 Oct 1974 [25 July 1973] 35424/73 Headings B8A and B8S Garment hangers S on a rail R are released at controlled intervals by engaging one or other of a pair of separator blades 14A, 14B. The latter are both pivotally mounted on a respective slider member 6, the latter being joined (so as to move as one) by a bridging member 7,8. The slider is connected to a pneumatic actuator (not shown). If the latter is operated when the device is in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the blade 14A releases the leading hanger S and a nose 15 of the blade 14B moves across to block the progress of the next hanger. A lug 17 on the blade 14A strikes a fixed stop 18 and the blade is pivoted to engage a stop 20 carried by the associated slide 6. This causes the blade 14A to adopt the tilted position (see the shown position of the blade 14B), necessary for subsequently engaging the next hanger on its return movement. A spring-loaded stop 22 prevents excessive swinging of the hangers as they pass along the rail R. Instead of the hangers being slidable on a rail R they may be carried by a slipping conveyer system.
