Abstract
1441298 Charging shaft furnaces DES ANCIENS ETABS PAUL WURTH SA 4 Oct 1973 [11 Oct 1972] 46469/73 Heading F4B A distributor shoot 2 in a shaft furnace is pivotable about an axis 8, 10 on a rotary housing 12, the drives for rotating the housing and for varying the shoot pitch angle being operable independently. As shown, the rotary housing 12 is mounted through a toothed rim 20 in a rotary roller connection 14 which is fixed to the underside of the upper wall 16 of a drive chamber 18. The rim 20 is driven by a motor 22 through a reduction gear 24 and gears 28, 30. The shoot 2 is pivoted to a rod 34 which is connected by a ball and socket joint 38 to a retaining ring 40 secured to a rotary ring 44 which is mounted in a rotary roller connection 46 supported by three vertically movable nuts 48. The nuts 48 are engaged by threaded rods which are rotatably supported and which are driven through worm gearing 62, 68 by a common drive motor to raise and lower the nuts 48 to vary the pitch angle of the shoot 2.
