Abstract

1,204,466. Toothed gearing; eccentrics. EISENWERK ROTHE ERDE G.m.b.H. 4 June, 1969 [25 Sept., 1968], No. 28226/69. Headings F2K and F2Q. A drive mechanism for a turntable having an inner race 11 rotatably supported on a fixed outer race 12 by balls 13, comprises a multiple eccentric 14 mounted on a hub 121 of the outer race 12 for rotation about the turntable axis, a gear-wheel 22 secured to an end face of the eccentric 14 and meshing a drive pinion 23, a ball-mounted ring 17 on each eccentric portion 141-143 of the eccentric 14, a plunger 18 rigid with each ring being guided in a cylinder 19 pivoted at 123 to the outer race, and rollers 20 on the plunger outer ends which are brought cyclically into driving engagement with an undulating track 111 of the inner race 11 as the eccentric 14 is rotated. As shown, the eccentric 14 has three eccentric portions 141-143 phased 120 degrees apart. The rings 17 are assembled from halves. The race 11 is advanced one tooth pitch per revolution of the eccentric 14. The drive pinion 23 is driven by an electric motor mounted on the top plate 25 of the inner race 11, or by other suitable means. The inner race 11 may be provided with a separate mechanical brake (not shown).
