Abstract
1441251 Revaporizing liquefied gases NITROCHILL Ltd 30 Aug 1973 [13 June 1972] 27591/72 Heading F4P A liquid/gas converter comprises a bung 5 sealingly engaging the neck 6 of a dewar flask 7 containing liquefied gas 18, an expansion chamber 1 under which bung 5 is supported, a gas discharge valve 2 controlled by a cock 31, and a capillary tube 11 leading from the interior of flask 7 to the chamber 1. In use, if gas is discharged from chamber 1 via valve 2, then the pressure in chamber 1 falls and more liquid is drawn up capillary tube 11 for evaporation into expansion chamber 1. The capillary tube 11 is located concentrically within a sleeve 3 and ends in a passage 14 in a metal plug 13, the passage 14 being bent to emerge as a nozzle 15 into chamber 1. The top of the sleeve 3 communicates with the annular passage round tube 1 via passage 16 and leads to a T-fitting 4 with a spring-loaded pressure relief valve 26 and a pressure gauge 17. A plate 8 is clamped between bung 5 and chamber 1 and serves to secure springs 9 attached to studs 10 on flask 7 so that, if valve 26 fails, then the excess pressure will lift bung 5 from neck 6. A weight 12 on tube 11 assists to hold the converter in place. The chamber 1 is made of heat-conductive metal such as copper, brass, aluminium or an aluminium alloy.
