Abstract

1440794 Valves MASSEY-FERGUSON SERVICES NV 9 Oct 1973 [10 Oct 1972] 47013/73 Heading F2V A valve for unloading a high-pressure pump on a vehicle during starting has a spool 20 biased to an open position by a spring 34 and closed by the fluid pressure differential thereacross when the flow therethrough reaches a predetermined value. Flow between the inlet 16 and the outlet 18 is via holes 48 and bore 46 and is cut-off when land 54 sealingly engages in the end of bore 28. The end of the spool abuts a washer 38 to compress a spring 36 in closed position, which spring overcomes the initial inertia on movement to open position. The fluid force on the spool is substantially independent of viscosity for a given flow rate.
