Abstract

1439186 Bearings SKF INDUSTRIAL TRADING & DEVELOPMENT CO BV 6 Sept 1973 [18 Sept 1972] 42019/73 Heading F2A In a rectilinear-motion ball bearing comprising a beam 1 recirculating balls 3, and a machine element 2, the element 2 is fitted with a pressure member such as a sheet metal strip 6, the strip being so shaped that it provides part of a recirculation path for the balls, and functions as a means for eliminating play. In the illustrated embodiment, the strip 6 is supported by a member 8, a spacer 9 of predetermined thickness, and a cover plate 10. In further embodiments, the strip 6 is made resilient by substituting one or more blade springs for the cover 10, or a helical spring for the member 8. Alternatively, a blade spring may be placed into a machined groove in the machine element behind the strip, and the strip itself may be made resilient by bending.
