Abstract

1437581 Closure cap SCAL SOCIETE DE CONDITIONNEMENTS EN ALUMINIUM 31 May 1974 [1 June 1973] 24222/74 Heading B8T A metal cap consists of a cover member 1 held on to a container by a second member 5 having a gripping ring 15 connected by a web portion 16 to an edge portion 9 which is crimped on to the collar of the mouth of the container, the web portion 16 having lines of weakness 10, 11 which are torn, in removing the second member 5 by pulling the gripping ring 15. As the second member 5 is being removed, an incision 13 causes the direction of pull to be altered and when incision 14 has been torn, the second member 5 is displaced from the container and the cover member 1 may then be removed. A portion of the surface of the cover member 1 is coated with a varnish which promotes adhesion of a seal 18 and the inner surface of the second member 5 is covered with a varnish preventing adhesion of the seal 18. The angle between the incision 13 and the axis of symmetry of the cap is less than or equal to 90 degrees.
