Abstract

1437376 Electric motors UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 April 1974 [5 May 1973] 21511/73 Heading H2A In a single phase electric motor having a device ensuring rotation in the desired direction, the device comprising an annular rotatable member 25, having projections 26 on its inner periphery, and a spring 28 having two legs set at an angle to one another, the end of one leg being mounted on a stationary pivot 27 and the other leg 32 frictionally engaging a hub rotatable with member 25, a detent 31 carried by or formed on the spring is moved out of or into engagement with projections 26 according to whether the hub and member 25 start to move in the desired or in the undesired direction. The synchronous motor shown has interdigitated stator poles 23 stamped out of housing parts 11, 12, and a permanent magnet rotor 17 mounted on a plastics carrier 18, one axial end of which forms the member 25. The bend in the spring forms the detent 31.
