Abstract

1429100 Electric motors CITIZEN WATCH CO Ltd 13 May 1974 [15 May 1973] 20963/74 Heading H2A An electric stepping motor comprises a ratchet 4 rotatable with a permanent magnet rotor 3 of the motor and an elongate reverse stop pawl 6 co-operating with the ratchet, there being a gap g, Fig. 1B, between the end of the pawl and the nearest ratchet tooth when the rotor is in its rest position. The motor shown is intended for use in a watch, the gap g being of the order of 30-180 microns. A radial gap S between the end of the pawl and the ratchet wheel is also of the order of 30-180 microns. The position of the pawl is adjustable. The rest position of the rotor is determined by positioning the stator poles to form a non-uniform air gap.
