Abstract

1437033 Photo-electric control of lamp intensity EXXON RESEARCH & ENG CO 12 Oct 1972 [17 May 1972] 47134/72 Heading G1A A lamp 8 has its intensity controlled in proportion to the intensity of ambient light by supplying it with power generated by photovoltaic means 10 responsive to the ambient light. The output of the photovoltaic (solar cell) detector(s) 10 may, if desired, be converted to a voltage proportional to intensity before applying it to a voltage cubing circuit 9. If a flashing lamp operation is required, pulse generator 3 is used to interrupt the supply to the lamp 8 from the photovoltaic generator. Excess power generated by the' solar cells may be diverted to charge a battery to be used to power the lamp at night.
