Abstract
1437013 Photographic dye image-receiving material POLAROID CORP 13 June 1973 [13 June 1972] 28196/73 Heading G2C A photographic diffusion transfer material comprises a dye image-receiving element comprising an image-receiving layer comprising a mordant capable of mordanting dye image-forming material that diffuses to the layer in an alkaline processing composition and a synthetic polymer associated with the mordant in the layer and which is hydrolyzable by aqueous alkaline processing composition to reduce the pH of the composition as a function of alkaline hydrolysis of the polymer by the composition after dye image-forming material has been mordanted in the layer. The polymer may be a polycarboxylic acid ester e.g. cellulose acetate which may contain an acetate substituent ratio of 1À5-2À8, preferably 2À3 acetate groups per anhydroglucose unit of the cellulosic polymer backbone, poly (methyl or ethyl methacrylate) or styrene carboxylic acid methyl or ethyl ester. The polymer may be an alkali hydrolyzable salt of a strong acid and a weak base. The material may also contain a neutralizing layer to further reduce the pH.
