Abstract

1435084 Brushes LENG-ARMAC Ltd 10 Aug 1973 [18 Aug 1972 13 Oct 1972 11 June 1973] 38757/72 47412/72 and 27645/73 Heading A4K [Also in Division B5] A plastics material brush having a wedge 2 disposed centrally of the bristles 1 is made by extruding a rope of straight parallel bristle forming filaments around a core around which a sheath is extruded, dividing the rope into sections, stripping away part of the sheath from each length to expose the filaments, bonding the filament ends to the unstripped portion of the sheath and to one another, and severing the core adjacent the mouth of the unstripped portion of the sheath to form the wedge. The unstripped portion of each sheath may be displaced from the exposed filaments to leave a space inside which a handle 7 may be inserted. Alternatively a handle 7 may be formed by moulding the end of the brush head remote from the sheath into the shape of a handle. The inside surface of the sheath and/or the outside surface of the core may be formed with longitudinally extending ribs 14 (15) Fig. 8 (not shown) to locate the filaments. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1326542.
