Abstract

1433919 Photoresist materials OJI PAPER CO Ltd 17 July 1973 33909/73 Heading C3R [Also in Divisions C2 and G2] A photoresist composition comprises an alkalisoluble phenolic resin and 5-30% by weight, based on the weight of the phenolic resin, of a mono- or di-azidopyrene which may be substituted by one or two halogen, nitro, monoalkylamino, alkoxy, hydroxyl, acyl, carboxyl, carboxymethyl, sulphonic acid or acylamino groups. The composition may contain up to 100% by weight, based on the weight of the phenolic resin, an alkali-soluble acrylic or vinyl polymer or a dye. The composition may be coated on a support (e.g. a zinc support which has been roughened with a wire brush and pumice stone and treated with an aqueous solution of acetic acid or an Al support grained with alumina and treated with caustic soda solution and then with an aqueous solution of acetic acid), imagewise exposed and developed with aqueous alkaline solution (pH 11À5-14) to remove the unexposed areas and leave a printing plate.
