1433072 Valves VSES N I I PROEKT KONSTRUKT INST PROMYSHLENNYKH GIDROPRIVODOV I GIDROAVTOMATIKI 11 April 1974 16090/74 Heading F2V In a 4-way, 3 position spool valve for connecting each of passages 15, 16 supplying chambers A, B of a press ram 20 to either a passage 12 connected to a pump 14 or passage 22 connected to a reservoir 24, the annular grooves 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 in the bore 2 which communicate with the passages 12, 15, 16, 22 are made eccentric to the axis of the bore. The hydraulic resistance of the shallow part of each groove is over three times greater than the resistance in the deep part of the groove so that the fluid flowing through the valve tends to by-pass the shallow part. The passages connect with the deep parts of the grooves. The eccentricity (e) of the grooves is equal to 0À2 to 0À9 times (R - r) where R equals the radius of the groove and r equals the radius of the bore.
