Abstract

1432557 Floor and road cleaning machine DYNACLEAN Ltd 20 Feb 1974 [20 Feb 1973 28 Aug 1973] 43522/72 and 14803/73 Heading A4F [Also in Divisions B3 and E1] Apparatus for cleaning a non-porous floor or road surface comprises a housing 1 divided into a compartment 2, containing a nozzle or nozzles 6 to be supplied with liquid under pressure, and a compartment 3 to be connected to a source of suction for drawing air through a restricted inlet or restricted inlets 12 and air and soiled liquid through a restricted passage or restricted passages 5 between the compartments 2, 3, the soiled liquid being entrained by air turbulence at the surface being cleaned. In the illustrated embodiment the passages 5, 12 are formed by notches in strips 5a, 12a engaging the surface being cleaned. A second embodiment comprises means for collecting and filtering the used liquid and recirculating it through the discharge nozzle or nozzles via a heating chamber 24, Fig. 3 (not shown). Other embodiments include a brush or an abrading tool, or means for including solid particles in the cleaning liquid to assist cleaning by abrasive action.
