1432324 Disinfectant composition SCHULKE & MAYR GmbH 11 Sept 1974 39643/74 Heading A5E Disinfectant compositions comprise a mixture of one or more germicidally-active aldehydes (as defined and including aldehydegenerating substances) with one or more germicidally-active phenol derivatives of the formula: where R1, R2 and R3 may be the same or different and each represents a straight or branched chain alkyl grout with 1 - 8 carbon atoms or Cl or Br. Foremost amongst the aldehydes preferred are the aliphatic aldehydes with 1-12 carbon atoms, aliphatic dialdehydes with 1-5 carbon atoms, the glyoxylic acid esters of aliphatic, cycloaliphatic and aryl aliphatic alcohols and glyoxylic acid. Examples of aldehyde generating substances are hexamethylene tetramine, hexahydro-triazine and O-acetal. Particularly suitable phenols are 26 dibromo-4-methyl phenol and 4 bromo 2, 6 dimethyl phenol. Others additives can include emulsifiers and/or organic cosolvents.
