Abstract

1431833 Bolting ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 25 June 1973 [26 June 1972] 29963/73 Heading F2H [Also in Divisions E1-E2] A hanger bolt assembly 12 for installation in steel decking 10 comprises bolt 13 having a stepped shank 14, 16 with an eccentric and/or non-circular head 22 at one end and a thread (18) at the other end, the step between the shank portions 14, 16 forming an annular shoulder 26, a nut 20 engaging the thread (18) a washer 28 on the smaller diameter shank portion 16, and helical spring 24 compressed between the shoulder 26 and the washer 28, and, between the nut 20 and the washer 28, a metal ring 30 with outwardly splayed resilient fingers 34 adjacent the washer 28. The spring 24 is frusto-conical. The assembly 12 is inserted into a hole in the decking 10 from above so that the nut 20 and ring 30 pass through the hole, the fingers 34 springing out to engage the deck underside. Concrete 11 is poured on to the decking to encase the part of the assembly 12 above the decking. The lower portion of the nut 20 can receive a suspension bolt 38 for a false ceiling 44, or a pipe or cable hanger 50.
