Abstract

1430013 Bearing rings for rotary furnaces KLOCKNER-HOMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 6 April 1973 [8 April 1972] 16723/73 Heading F4B A bearing ring 5 is secured to a rotary furnace by a plurality of plates 6 which are inserted between the inner face of the ring 5 and the thickened mounting portion 1 of the furnace 2, the plates being held endwise by a fixed support 4 on one side and a retaining member 9 on the other which is detachably secured to the mounting 1, e.g. by welding. When cold there is a slight clearance between the plates and the bearing ring but when the furnace is hot the expansion gives a tight fit. When the plates become worn they can be replaced, the furnace being allowed to cool to provide the necessary clearance. In another form, Fig. 4, the plates 6 bear on fixed plates 10 welded to the mounting the plates being held laterally by welded lugs 11 underneath engaging between plates 10. The support members 4<SP>1</SP> are arcuate and serve to locate both the bearing ring 5 and the plate 6. At the other end the retaining member 9, as in Fig. 1, is arranged to overlie a part of one of the lugs projecting beyond the edge of the plate 6.
