Abstract

1429899 Grinding LUBUSKA FABRYKA ZGRZEBLAREK BAWELNIANYCH UL 17 July 1974 [23 July 1973] 31561/74 Heading B3D [Also in Division D1] A grinding device for carding machine saw cylinders comprises a shaft 4 having a helical left- and right-hand overlapping grooves 7 mounted in bearings 3 in a tube 1 which, in turn, is mounted in bearings 2, an abrasive disc 9 slidably mounted on the tube and having a slider 8 extending through an axial slit in the tube and engaging the grooves, the shaft at one end having an arbor provided with a key 6 for transmission of power from a power transmission system 20, the tube at one end having a cover 10 provided with a pin 11 for transmission of power from the power transmission system. The pin 11 is received in a hole 28 in a gear 12 which is supported by a bearing 27 on a sleeve 19 and is engaged by a toothed belt 26 driven by a gear 23 on the shaft 21 of a motor 20. The sleeve 19 is supported by bearings 17, 18 in a housing 16, is keyed at 29 to receive the key 6 of the arbor 5, and is secured to a gear 25 driven by a toothed belt 24 from a second gear 24 on the motor shaft 21. The drive causes rotation of the tube and hence the grinding wheel, and rotation of the shaft relative to the tube and thus axial movement of the grinding wheel.
