Abstract

1429527 Chlorination of a portion of swimming bath water BABCOCK WATER TREATMENT Ltd 25 Sept 1974 [25 Sept 1973] 44794/73 Heading C1C A method of chemically treating water circulated to a swimming pool including circulating a main flow of water abstracted from the pool through a filter bed and back to the pool, comprises abstracting and treating a subsidiary flow of water with chlorine gas to reduce bacterial and organic and nitrogenous concentrations and with alkali baths to reduce carbonic acid concentration, the subsidiary flow of water then being combined with the main flow prior to flowing through the filter bed. The alkali salts may be magnenite or calcined dolomitic limestone used as an alkali salt (exchange) bed. Suitable apparatus is also claimed and described.
