Abstract
1429334 Isomaltitol from isomaltulose SUDDEUTSCHE ZUCKER-AG 27 March 1973 [12 April 1972] 14786/73 Headings C2C and C2S [Also in Division A2] Isomaltitol is made by hydrogenating isomaltulose in an aqueous alkaline solution in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst. Isomeltulose is made by subjecting saccharose to the action of an enzyme capable of effecting the conversion, the enzyme being suitably obtained by culturing, under aerobic conditions and in the presence of saccharose a suitable strain of bacteria, e.g. Protoaminobacter rubrum or Serratia plymuthica.
