1429072 Plant growth regulant AGRIPAT SA 1 March 1973 [2 March 1972 29 March 1972 (2)] 9985/73 Addition to 1371804 Heading C1B [Also in Division C3] Novel plant growth regulants comprise compounds of the formula wherein X represents a chlorine or bromine atom, A represents a group of the formula or represents a group of the formula and represents a group of the formula with the proviso that only one of A and B may be a group -OR 4 or -OR 5 when C represents a -CH 3 group, and wherein R 1 represents a C 1 -C 18 alkyl group unsubstituted or substituted by C 2 -C 8 alkoxycarbonyl, C 3 -C 12 cycloalkyl, a 5- or 6-ring membered heterocyclic radical, or phenyl unsubstituted or mono- or poly-substituted by C 1 -C 8 alkyl, C 1 -C 8 alkoxy, C 1 -C 8 alkylthio and/or halogen; a C 3 -C 18 alkenyl group; a C 3 -C 18 haloalkenyl group; a C 3 -C 8 alkynyl group; a C 3 -C 12 cycloalkyl, group; a C 3 -C 12 cycloalkenyl group; or a phenyl group unsubstituted or mono- or poly-substituted by C 1 -C 8 alkyl, C 1 -C 8 alkoxy, C 1 -C 8 alkylthio and/or halogen; and when the compound of Formula I contains more than one R 1 group, these groups may be the same or different; R 2 represents a C 1 -C 18 alkyl group unsubstituted or substituted by C 1 -C 8 alkoxy, C 1 -C 8 alkylthio, C 3 -C 12 cycloalkyl, a 5- or 6- ring membered heterocyclic radical or phenyl unsubstituted or mono- or poly-substituted by C 1 -C 8 alkyl, C 1 -C 8 alkoxy, C 1 -C 8 alkylthio and/or halogen; a C 3 -C 18 alkenyl group; a C 3 -C 18 haloalkenyl group; a C 3 -C 8 alkynyl group; a C 3 -C 12 cyoloalkyl group; a C 3 -C 12 cycloalkenyl group; a phenyl group unsubstituted or mono- or poly-substituted by C 1 -C 8 alkyl, C 1 -C 6 halo-alkyl, C 1 - C 8 alkoxy, C 1 -C 8 alkylthio and/or halogen; or a 5- or 6-ring membered heterocyclic radical; and R 3 represents a hydrogen atom or a group R 2 as defined above, the R 2 and R 3 groups being the same or different; or R 2 and R 3 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached form a saturated or unsaturated mono- or bi-cyclic ring system; and each of R 4 and R 5 , which may be the same or different, represents a C 1 -C 18 alkyl group unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, cyano, C 1 -C 8 alkoxy, C 2 -C 8 alkanoyloxy, aroyloxy, aryloxy, C 2 -C 12 alkoxyalkoxy, C 3 -C 6 alkenyloxy, C 3 -C 12 cycloalkyl, C 1 -C 8 alkylthio, C 2 -C 8 alkoxycarbonyl, a 5- or 6-ring membered heterocyclic radical, di-(C 1 -C 6 alkyl) amino, formamido, or phenyl unsubstituted or mono- or poly-substituted by C 1 -C 8 alkyl, C 1 -C 8 alkoxy and/or halogen; a C 3 -C 18 alkenyl group; a C 3 -C 18 haloalkenyl group; a C 3 -C 6 alkenyl group substituted by phenyl; a C 3 -C 8 alkynyl group; a C 3 -C 12 cycloalkyl group unsubstituted or C 1 -C 8 alkyl substituted; a C 3 -C 12 cycloalkenyl group; or a phenyl group unsubstituted or mono- or polysubstituted by halogen, cyano, formyl, nitro, C 1 -C 8 alkyl, C 1 -C 6 haloalkyl, C 1 -C 8 alkylthio, C 2 -C 6 alkanoyl and/or C 2 -C 6 alkoxycarbonyl; and R 4 may in addition represent a group of the formula (wherein R 6 represents a C 1 -C 18 alkyl group unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, C 1 -C 8 alkoxy, C 2 -C 8 alkoxycarbonyl, benzoyl, C 2 -C 6 alkanoyl, C 3 -C 12 cycloalkyl, C 3 -C 12 cycloalkenyl, phenoxy unsubstituted or halo-substituted, or phenyl unsubstituted or mono- or poly-substituted by halogen, C 1 -C 8 alkyl and/ or C 1 -C 8 alkoxy; a C 3 -C 18 alkenyl group; a C 2 -C 18 haloalkenyl group; a C 2 -C 18 alkenyl group substituted by phenyl unsubstituted or halo- or C 1 -C 8 alkoxy-substituted; a C 3 -C 8 alkynyl group; a C 3 -C 12 cycloalkyl group; a C 3 -C 12 cycloalkenyl group; a phenyl group unsubstituted or mono- or poly-substituted by halogen, C 1 -C 8 alkyl and/or C 1 -C 8 alkoxy; or a 5- or 6-ring membered heterocyclic radical). The above compounds enable regulation of plant growth and germination power, promotion of blossom formation, fruit development and growth of abscission layers, thinning of blossom and fruit and promotion of latex formation in Herea brasiliensis. The compounds may be formulated with solid extenders, surface active agents, liquid diluents and fertilizers to form emulsion concentrates, wettable powders and granulates for application both to plants and to plant habitats.
