Abstract

1428822 Polymer coated products BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 2 March 1973 [4 March 1972] 10216/73 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions B5, C3 and D1] Substrates such as Cu wire, metals, non woven or woven fabrics of glass, graphite or metal fibres are provided with one or more coatings of a composition comprising 45-80% by weight of water containing 0.5 to 5% by weight or organic solvent (based on water), 20-55% of 0.1 to 150 microns particles of thermostable organic binder or mixture or compound based thereon and 0.01 to 5% high MW organic suspension agent dissolved in the aqueous solvent where the binder has a long term service temperature of >100‹C, is water insoluble or at most slightly water swellable and is a polyester-imide, polybismaleimide, polyamide-imide, or polyester based on terephthalic acid/glycerol/glycol or terephthalic acid/isophthalic acid/ethylene glycol/hexanediol/tris(hydroxyethyl)-isocyanate. Coating may be by spraying, dipping, pouring, flooding, impregnating, brushing or knife coating. Other additives may be present, e.g. fillers such as dolomite or silicates, dyes, pigments (e.g. TiO 2 ), loading materials (e.g. heavy spar), reinforcement materials (e.g. metal whiskers, glass fibres, graphite fibres and boron fibres) and flow improvers, e.g. diphenyl or lauric acid. The suspension agents include thickening agents, e.g. gelatins, carboxymethylcellulose, methylcelluloses, polyvinylpyrolidone, polyacrylamide, polymethacrylamide, polyvinyl alcohol, polymers or co-polymers of ammonium acrylate, ammonium methacrylate, or dimethylaminoethyl ammonium chloride.
