Abstract

1428611 Sorting apparatus WEIMARKOMBINAT VEB 15 Feb 1974 [4 June 1973] 7044/74 Heading B2H [Also in Division H2] An apparatus for segregating articles, e.g. potatoes and stones etc, comprises a mechanism 1 for feeding articles in a path through a control zone 2, a signal generator 3 for generating signals when articles pass through the control zone, a circuit 4 for processing the signals, at least one electromagnetic ejector 6 having a movable element 7 located to strike and thereby to eject selected ones of the articles from the path and an amplifier 5 incorporating a switch-over device and connected between the signal processing circuit 4 and the ejector for controlling the latter, the ejector being energised by the amplifier upon receipt of a signal from the signal processing circuit 4 to effect an ejection operation and the switch-over device being effective to reverse the operation of the ejector. Damping elements 8, 9 are provided on a double-coiled stator of the ejector to limit the stroke of the element 7. The latter has an impact plate portion 10 combined with a damping element 11.
