Abstract

1428268 Cutting apparatus HENRY SIMON Ltd 27 Aug 1974 [8 Sept 1973] 42353/73 Heading B4B Apparatus for producing blanks E of corrugated board comprises a corrugating machine 10 for delivering a web of corrugated board B to a first slitting machine 11 so as to divide the board into longitudinally extending ribbons R a rotary cut-off knife 12 for cutting the ribbons transversely into blanks A and means 13 for collecting the blanks A and feeding them laterally to a further slitting machine 15 to thereby subdivide them into the smaller blanks E. The blanks A are fed in shingled fashion from the rotary cut-off machine to a take-off table 13 where bundles are assembled, the bundles then being fed to a hopper 14 and fed therefrom to the slitting machine 15. Photo-electric cells are provided to monitor the height of the stack in the hopper so as to vary the speed of the slitter as required.
