Abstract

1,073,701. Sheet cutting and delivering machines. STRACHAN & HENSHAW Ltd. Aug. 25, 1965 [June 12, 1964], No, 24468/64. Heading B6H. Apparatus for cutting a web 11 of paper, cellulose film or metal foil into sheets comprises guide rollers 12, 13, which advance the web to 'three sets of longitudinal rotary cutters 14, slitting the web into ribbons 15 which are turned by turning bars 18 arranged at 45 degrees to associate the ribbons in a superposed position with the aid of guide rollers 20. The superposed ribbons are drawn by feed rollers 25 into a rotary transverse cutter 26, which cuts the ribbons into 'batches of sheets, which are scanned by a cam counter (not shown) having a number of fingers actuated by the batches and causing the cam to deflect a deflector 29 to allow the next set of batches to be delivered into the other one of collecting trays 33, 34. The batches are overlapped by a slow-down device 30 consisting of steel guides and -rider rollers and associated with each delivery unit 27, 28. The collecting trays 33, 34 are each mounted on vibrating units, which may be operated electromagnetically at high frequency to jog the sheets into a neat pile.
