Abstract

1426558 Razor blade units WARNER-LAMBERT CO 22 Jan 1974 [23 Jan 1973] 3365/73 Heading B4B A shaving unit 10 comprises a first elongated razor blade 13 connected to one side of an elongated member 12 which is provided with spaced projections 17, 18 each having a raised portion 1, 2, a second razor blade 11 connected to the other side of the spacer with its cutting edge 14 positioned rearwardly of the cutting edge 15 of the first blade and with the ends of its cutting edge located behind a respective one of the raised portions. The spacer is formed with teeth 16 which co-operate with slots 20 formed in the blade 13 to provide a shaving residue flow path. The blades and spacer are connected together by spot-welding. In a modification Fig. 12 (not shown) the teeth and slots 20 are dispensed with. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, the blades and spacer are located in their correct positions prior to spot welding by means of projections 31, 32, 34, 35 formed on the spacer and adapted to engage in the ends of slots 30, 33 in the blade 11; alternatively the projections may be located in bevelled holes 40, 41, Fig. 7, provided in the blades. In a further embodiment, the spacer may be formed from plastics material provided with bosses 51, 52, Fig. 8, adapted to be inserted into bevelled holes 53, 54 formed in the blades; the bosses are then staked by heat and pressure. The blades may be of stainless steel and the spacer of stainless steel or plastics material.
