Abstract

1425833 Apparatus for displaying variable signals BENDIX CORP 12 April 1973 [13 April 1972] 17723/73 Heading G4H Apparatus for displaying the amplitude of a variable electrical analogue signal comprises an analogue-to-digital converter 36 for generating digital signals representing the amplitude of the analogue signals, indicator elements 18 which provide a visual display corresponding to the digital signals and a limit indicator 22 which is activated when a preset digital signal is generated. The variable analogue signal is provided by a displacement transducer 32 such as a differential transformer, the A.C. output of which is fed via a circuit 34 to the converter 36 of the type which includes a comparator and a clock pulse counter. The sixbit digital output of the converter 36 is supplied in the form of two groups of three bits of a decoder 38 which energizes a single element 18. The elements 18 are light emitting diodes and if the diode corresponding to the position of maximum or minimum signal level indicators 26, 24 is illuminated, the reject indicator 22 is also illuminated. In the event of the signal level exceeding the range of the display a light emitting diode 28 is illuminated.
