Abstract

1424128 Developing electrostatic latent images ELECTROPRINT Inc 19 Jan 1973 [21 Jan 1972] 2963/73 Heading G2H [Also in Division B6] An electrostatic image is developed by application of a liquid developer, the developer is dried to form a dry toner image and the dry image is transferred from the member on which it was formed to a copy sheet. Preferably the electrostatic image has been formed by a charged particle stream, controlled by an addressed or part photoconductive modulator assembly, and the developer is a suspension or emulsion. Drying of the developer may be by physical removal of its liquid phase or an air jet or knife, without evaporation. The dry toner may consist of microcapsules or resin particles, and the image may be transferred to a copy sheet by heat which melts the resin particles or pressure which bursts the microcapsules to release a marking material.
