Abstract

1423808 Agricultural tractors; suspension systems VALMET OY 19 Feb 1974 [21 Feb 1973] 7427/74 Headings B7D and B7H An agricultural tractor which is either provided with steerable front wheels 2 or is steerable by pivoting a rear body section relative to a front body section, has on each side of a rear end part thereof a respective undercarriage 20, the undercarriages being pivoted to the tractor body and each having a foremost wheel 7 and a rearmost wheel 8, a power system being provided to pivot the undercarriages to raise the foremost wheels 7 clear of the ground, the power system being responsive to one or more of the following factors: (a) operation of a manual control, (b) the position of a rear lifting linkage of the tractor, (c) the magnitude of the load acting on the front wheels. (d) the steering angle of the front wheels relative to the rearmost wheels, (e) the position of a control lever for controlling a rear lifting linkage of the tractor. In the embodiment shown, the power system is responsive to the load acting on the front wheels. In the embodiment of Fig. 2 (not shown) the tractor has a lifting linkage (22) carrying a plough (23); when the plough (23) is raised the undercarriages (20) are automatically pivoted to raise foremost spiked wheels (7a) of the undercarriages clear of the ground.
