Abstract

[Also in Divisions A1 and E1] In a tractor-trailer combination in which agricultural or earth-working implements are mounted on a trailer chassis- 5 pivotally connected to the tractor 1 about a transverse axis 8, the chassis 5 is pivotally connected about a substantially horizontal axis 15 on the centre line of the chassis to a ground wheel-mounting cross beam 14 and means 9, 16 are provided between the chassis 5, the tractor 1 and the cross beam 14 to lock the chassis to the chassis and to the beam. The free ends of the arms 5a, 5b of the forked or Y-shaped chassis are pivoted to coaxial shafts 8 on either side of the tractor chassis or on the outer ends of the driven axle 4 of the tractor. The locking means 9, 16 are rams, the preferred arrangement being a double acting ram 9 disposed on the centre line of the combination between the tractor and the chassis and a pair of single or double-acting rams 16 disposed one on each side of said centre line between the chassis and the cross beam 14. The ground wheels of the trailer may be caster wheels 12 that can be rotated through up to 360 degrees about vertical axes in accordance with the angular setting of the steering wheels 20 of the tractor by suitable interconnecting linkage 19.
