Abstract
1423066 voting/question-answering apparatus APPLIED FUTURES Inc 2 Aug 1973 [14 Aug 1972] 36806/73 Headings G4T G4H and G5G Each of a number of voting or questionanswering stations 12a, 12b, 12c &c. includes a switch 46, settable by an individual at that station to represent his selected one of a plurality (three, as shown) of possible answers to a question, and a variable resistor 40, settable by the individual to represent his confidence in his answer. The individual now closes switch 78 to energize a relay 75 using A.C. power delivered by a central station 10 over lines 71, 72, 73. Relay contacts 80 provide a holding circuit, contacts 81 de-energize a " please vote " lamp 83 and energize a " vote recorded" lamp 82, contacts 86 energize through wiring not shown a central station lamp 87 corresponding to the respective station 12 to indicate that voting has been completed at such station 12, and contacts 44 prepare the vote indicating circuit 40, 46, 47-49, 60-62, 65, 66, 23, 91, 30, which circuit is still open at 91. When all lamps 87 are energized, indicating the completion of voting at every station 12, an operator at station 12 closes ganged switches 90, 91. Switch 91 closes the vote indicating circuits, whereby all votes for a particular answer (weighted in accordance with the setting of resistors 40) are summed, the total being represented by the reading on an ammeter 60, 61 or 62 corresponding to the particular answer. Switch 90 energizes lamp 93 at vote indicator 11. The reading of voltmeter 27 is related to overall confidence, i.e. irrespective of particular answers.
