Abstract
1421551 Gas burners BRITISH GAS CORP 19 Jan 1973 [22 Jan 1972] 3142/72 Heading F4T Burner apparatus for a predetermined gas fuel has a governor (not shown) for maintaining the pressure to a fuel gas inlet 8 in substantially constant relation to the pressure surrounding the burner head 9, and a valve (not shown) for regulating the air flow to an air inlet 1 which opens to a secondary air passage 13 leading. directly to the burner head, and to a primary air passage 4 leading through the throat 6 of an injector to a mixing tube 7 and thence to the burner head, the fuel inlet 8 opening to the suction inlet of the injector which, on air supply to inlet 1, entrains the fuel gas in excess of the stoichiometric fuel/primary air ratio, the resulting mixture passing to the burner head to mix with the secondary air and burn thereat, the thermal output of the apparatus being controlled by the air valve. Orifices 3, 4, 6 may be adjustable or interchangeable to vary the primary/secondary air and primary air/fuel ratios. The burner head may be an open-ended tube or may be formed by orifices 9 adjacent the closed downstream end of tube 7. A flameretention device may be provided comprising a continuous tube 12, or a castellated flange, on an annular baffle 10. Injector nozzle 5 may be convergent or cylindrical and outer tube 13 may be convergent, divergent or cylindrical.
