Abstract

1421287 Gas distribution systems GOSUDARSTVENNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY ENERGETICHESKY INSTITUT IMENI GM KRZHIZHANOVSKOGO 30 Aug 1973 40768/73 Heading F4X In a method of pumping liquid gas by means of a jet pump 2, the necessary pressure at the jet pump outlet 9 is built up by tapping-off from the main stream 1 of gas, via a line 11, a portion of the gas which is then evaporated (e.g. in a heat exchanger 5) and fed to nozzles 6 of the jet pump 2, whereafter it is condensed in a mixing chamber 8 of the jet pump by the main stream of liquefied gas entering the pump through nozzles 7, thus increasing the kinetic energy of the gas stream at the jet pump outlet 9. On starting up, valve 3 is open and valve 10 closed and the tapped-off stream is removed to the heat exchanger 5 from the main stream by a centrifugal pump 4. When steady conditions prevail, pump 4 is stopped and, with valve 10 open and valve 3 closed, the tapped-off gas is supplied to the heat exchanger 5 from the outlet of the jet pump 2, via the line 11. Pumping thereafter will be determined by the heat supply to the heat exchanger 5.
