Abstract

1421171 Brakes; machinery safety devices CREDA ELECTRIC Ltd 2 Jan 1973 [27 Jan 1972] 3841/72 Headings F2E and F2J A band brake for a centrifugal drying machine is applied by a spring 40 through a lever 26 which amplifies the force of the spring upon opening of a lid 16 of the machine, the driving motor of the drum 18 being de-energized through a switch 52. When the lid is closed a band 21 is normally spaced from the drum by a cable 34 engaging the lever 26 through a nipple 36, the cable being connected to a spring-loaded pin 44 normally spaced from the end of an arcuate slot 46. Upon opening the lid the pin 44 engages the end of the slot under the action of a spring 58, Fig. 1 (not shown), the spring 40 then pivoting lever 26 to apply the band 21 to the drum 18 and the switch 52 acting to de-energize the motor by movement of an arm 54 carried by the band 21 and provided with an adjusting screw 56 which bears on the switch operating member.
