Abstract

1420612 Coated products UNILEVER Ltd 4 Dec 1972 [3 Dec 1971 16 June 1972] 55836/ 72 Heading B2E [Also in Division B5] A laminated plastics film which may be deep-drawn for use in the production of pushthrough packs for tablets comprises a layer of low pressure polyolefin consisting of high density polyethylene or isotactic polypropylene or a copolymer of ethylene or propylene, optionally containing isobutylene, which has a thickness of 100-300Á, and a layer of deep drawable plastics material consisting of polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene or a styrene copolymer, e.g. acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene or acrylonitrile-styrene copolymers, with a thickness of 10-75% of that of the polyolefin layer and is coated with one or more layers of polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinylidene chloride or a copolymer thereof of thickness not more than 20Á on one or both outer surfaces. Polyolefin film may be surface treated, e.g. by flame or electric corona treatment, prior to bonding to the deep drawable plastics material, preferably by means of an adhesive, e.g. a polyurethane. The layer of deep drawable plastics material may be bonded to each surface of the polyolefin film.
