Abstract
1440317 Plastics laminates BRITISH CELLOPHANE Ltd 17 Oct 1973 [17 Oct 1972] 47697/72 Headings B5N and B5B A heat-sealable orientated plastics film comprises an orientated polypropylene film having on at least one surface a heat-sealable layer comprising a predominantly linear random copolymer of ethylene and up to 12 mole per cent of at least one further α-olefine having at least three carbon atoms per molecule, e.g. propylene or butene-1. The polypropylene may be admixed with a small proportion of a compatible polyolefine. The heat-sealable layer may be applied as a preformed film and bonded to the polypropylene film by an adhesive or by stretching the preformed film in contact with the polypropylene film. Alternatively, the product may be formed by co-extruding the films through a slot or annular orifice followed by quenching and stretching under stretch orientatable conditions.
