Abstract
1419797 Automatic current control SOC ANON DES ETABS ADRIEN DE BACKER 3 April 1973 [19 May 1972] 15972/73 Heading G3R A load is supplied with current from a resonant loop circuit, and the load current is automatically regulated by controlling the value of an inductive device. As shown in Fig. 1, a load Z such as a beacon lamp is supplied from an A.C. source U over an autotransformer 1, 2. Leakage inductance between the windings is represented by inductance L and forms a resonant loop with a capacitor C. The load current is sensed by a detector 8 and compared with a reference signal r in an amplifier 7 which produces gating signals to control the firing angle of antiparallel SCR's 4 connected in series with an inductor 5 across the load Z so as to shunt a controlled portion of the load current. The inductor 5 is connected to a tapping on winding 1, and the SCR's 4 may be similarly connected to a tapping on winding 2 to optimize the power factor, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown). Also, the load Z may be transformer coupled to winding 2, and the inductor 5 may be connected in the load circuit or in the mains circuit.
