Abstract

1417186 Cathode-ray tube A W STANDAART 17 Nov 1972 [23 Nov 1971] 57457/73 Divided out of 1417185 Heading H1D A cathode-ray tube having a multi-beam gun arrangement generally of the type disclosed in the parent Specification 1,417,185 has a plurality of individual phosphor screens arranged in a pattern-as shown, screens 124A to 124F arranged in two rows-upon which different displays may be exhibited simultaneously. The gun includes one horizontal emissive cathode panel 135B, Figs. 5 and 6, for each row of screens, the remainder of the gun assembly being either as in Specification 1,417,185, or as shown in Figs. 5 and 6, in which the control grid 128 and first anode 129 are ceramic plates with conductively coated apertures; the cylindrical focusing anodes 130 and accelerating anodes 131 are supported by ceramic plates 132 and 133, respectively; and all those members, together with the electrostatic deflection plates 140, 141 are supported from frame members 134, 134A. The different phosphor screens may be of different colours, and one or more may be of multicolour type with a phosphor stripe screen, as disclosed in Specification 1,417,185, in which case the control grid and first anode each have, for each of those screens three vertically disposed apertures spanning the appropriate horizontal cathode emissive surface (Fig. 7A, not shown). Magnetic, rather than electrostatic deflection may be employed, many numerical examples of dimensions are provided.
