Abstract

1416101 Removing entrained air in containers LIBRAWERK PELZ & NAGEL KG 25 April 1973 [26 April 1972] 19704/73 Heading B8C Air entrained with pulverulent or granular filling material in a flexible container 1 is removed by one or more suction tubes 21 which produce an extended diffuse suction zone with a low velocity of flow. The bottom of the tube 21 is of flatter cross-section and is formed by a plurality of spaced rods extending along the length of the tube. Suction openings are formed between the rods and are progressively closed from the bottom upwards by the rods being moved inwardly by mechanical means and/or by the pressure difference between the outside and inside of the container. The tube is lowered into the container by a cylinder 31 and moved by a cylinder 29 longitudinally with a container 1 as it moves on a conveyer 5. Levers 11 on lazy tongs 12 operated by a cylinder 15 pull the ends of the container apart to contract the sides of the mouth against the tube. The mouth of the evacuated container is passed between PTFE belts 37 and is heat sealed by welding rods 41, 45.
