Abstract

141,574. Plummer, A. B. July 2, 1919. Boots and shoes; foot-arch supports.-An orthopµdic pad for boots and shoes comprises a sock 7 having a centrally-arranged raised pad 14 situated just behind the tread of the foot, and a second pad occupying the heel portion of the sock and extending forwardly on the inner side of the foot to the line 13. The heel pad is wedge-shaped the thick end of the wedge being along the line 8 at the inside of the foot, and the thin end along the line 9 at the outside. This pad is diminished in width where it passes under the instep, as shown at 11, and at the extreme forward end a projecting tongue passes on one side of the pad 14 to the line 13. This pad may also be bevelled at the rear, as shown at 10, and at the projecting tongue, which slopes away to a fine edge at the line 13. The centre of the pad 14 is as high as the thickest part of the heel pad, and it slopesaway on all sides from the centre.
