Abstract

1414345 Slipway using support cushion of water F A POWNALL 10 May 1973 [10 May 1972] 22300/73 Heading B7S Ships are slipped on an area 11 of the shore and of the sea floor 13 having a graded smooth surface extending from the shore to water deep enough to float the ship to be slipped. Supporting pads are detachably attached to the ship and each pad 21, 22 is in the form of a ring or two coaxial inflatable flexible rings closed above and through which water is discharged downwardly on to the smooth surface. Equipment is provided to pull the ship up the smooth surface on to the shore.
