Abstract
1413651 Granulating by atomizing molten metal A R E SINGER 1 Feb 1973 [4 Nov 1971] 51307/71 Heading C7X Metals, e.g. Cu, Al, Fe or their alloys are atomized using a mixture of water, hydrocarbon, e.g. methane or natural gas, and nitrogen which may be cleaned flue gas containing N2, CO, CO 2 and water vapour. The liquids and gas may be injected directly by e.g. concentric nozzles Fig. 3 (not shown) or they may be mixed before injection by e.g. feeding paraffin and water through nozzles 9, 8 to a stream of N 2 in the pipe 6. Alternatively, one liquid may be fed into the gas stream and the other fed directly. The granulated metal is removed by a screw 12.
